Some components can be set up to have an impact on your opening figures. These must always start at the start of the plan, and cannot be moved to start later than this date.

This is controlled by a tickbox at the top of the component's form next to a statement like "This asset was acquired before the start of the plan". If this tickbox is ticked then the asset is assumed to have been bought before the start of the plan and cannot start any later in the plan. 

If you tick this tickbox the component is assumed to be an existing asset or liability of the business, and will form part of your opening balance position.
